Ralph Lauren for the first time has produced a 39mm case for its safari-inspired RL67 Chronometer. The black “aged’ stainless steel case transfers the watch from being just a sporting timepiece to one with both sporting and rugged look.
The RL67 Chronometer’s matte-varnished anthracite dial features large beige colored Arabic numerals, with 12 o’clock and six o’clock oversized. Its hour and minutes hands are luminescent and sword-shaped, while the seconds hand is a long-stemmed orange baton. Its screwed crown, also made from “aged” stainless steel features RL initials logo.
The self-winding COSC-certified RL300-1 caliber chronometer movement provides a power reserve of 42 hours and a frequency of 4Hz (or 28,800 vph). The watch is water resistant up to 165 ft. Visible through sapphire crystal case back, the RL300-1 caliber has been adorned with vertical Côtes de Genève and circular graining.
The watch sports an olive-green “weathered” canvas strap with black leather lining and a matching stainless steel pin buckle. The canvas strap is a reminder of an explorer’s shoulder bag of a bygone era. While the pricing is not announced, the watch is available at Ralph Lauren boutiques.
