Ultra Thin Piaget Altiplano Date Voted “Watch of the Year 2013” By Montres Passion

Piaget is getting into the habit of winning “Watch of the Year” award. Swiss luxury watchmaker was awarded the “Watch of the Year 2013” for its ultra-thin Piaget Altiplano Date from Montres Passion. In 2008 it won the same award for Altiplano small seconds model.

Piaget is the world leader in making ultra-thin watches and most of them have set records as world’s thinnest watches. So far 23 of 35 movements Piaget has designed and developed belong in this category. Keeping them thin is something Piaget has mastered over time. This year’s winner Altiplano Date is one of them.

Piaget Altiplano Date 1205P movement

Altiplano Date is powered by Piaget caliber 1205P which is just 3mm thin and housed in a case just 6.36mm thick – giving it a double record. The movement comes adorned with traditional finishing, circular Côtes de Genève, a circular-grained mainplate, beveled bridges, sunburst wheels, blued screws, a dedicated index assembly and a rose gold micro-rotor engraved with the Piaget coat-of-arms.

The watch is available in white gold, pink gold, and gem-set pink gold in 40mm cases. The silver dial is arranged in three levels with single and double hour markers in black. The date indicator is at 9 o’clock, while small seconds at 5 o’clock.

An independent jury of watch professionals on behalf of Montres Passion magazine voted for watches in all categories. The Ladies’ Watch of the Year was awarded to the Arceau Petite Lune by Hermès.
