Vacheron Constantin has just released a trio of beautiful timepieces for gentlemen. The new collection named Métiers d’Art Villes Lumières pays tribute to the “aerial views of the world’s most beautiful cities.” The watches highlight the bright lights that give life to some of the world’s largest metropolis. They are dedicating first three models to lively nights and night lights of Geneva, Paris and New York (Manhattan to be precise).
In addition to traditional Grand Feu enameling, the watchmaker has teamed up with Japanese powder-applying artist Yoko Imai. Use of precious material on a watch face is nothing new, however, hand-application of it in powdered form is. Imai has mastered the art of doing it even on a watch dial lacking a lot of real estate to work with. Tiny specks of gold, pearl, platinum and diamond powder are methodically applied to the enamel to bring the dial to life.
New York dial is very easy to understand. You can clearly find the Central Park, Hudson and East Rivers, New Jersey, Queens and Brooklyn. It is not hard to spot Manhattan, Brooklyn, Williamsburg and Queensboro bridges either.
Landmarks on Paris dial include Avenue Foch leading to Arc de Triomphe and Charles de Gaulle Étoile., Cimetière de Passy next to the River Seine. A well illuminated Avenue de New York, the Eiffel Tower, and Musée Galliera areas. Then there is the Avenue du Président Wilson as well as the entire Champs-Élysées area including 1st and 8th arrondissements.
On Geneva dial, if you look closer you can spot Vacheron Constantin office surrounded by all the Swiss Banks on Quai De L’Ile. Easily identifiable landmarks include the Parc Saint-Jean, Rhône River, and L’île Rousseau.
The collection is powered by Hallmark of Geneva certified Caliber 2460 SC automatic movement. It offers 4 Hz frequency, about 40 hours of power reserve and seconds, minute and hour functions. The movement features traditional finishes. The case, dial, and hands are made from 18 Karat gold. The case is water resistant up to 30 meters. Completing the timepiece is a beautiful hand-stitched alligator Mississippiensis strap with an 18 Karat gold Ardillon buckle.
