Louis Vuitton’s contribution to this year’s Only Watch auction in Monaco is the unique and sporty, Tambour Regatta Spin Time watch. For the fourth year in a row, the watch is designed collaboration with Paul Vettavino (his father is the president of the Monaco Association Against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophies.) Paul, himself suffers from the disease. This year’s edition gets a new red and blue color combination than previous years orange.
The unique “Spin Time” mechanism introduced in 2010 is again the main feature for this watch. Hours of the watch shown by five rotating cubes. It also shows the chronograph and regatta 5-minute countdown. Regatta timing is controlled by a simple push on the button on the case at 8 O’clock position. This follows the new Americas Cup rule of 5-minute countdown. “Spin Time” mechanism *(LV 156) is patented by Louis Vuitton.
Tambour Regatta Spin is housed in a 45.5mm pink gold case. The dark blue dial shows an engraved gold boat with “Paul Vettavino” printed on it. Louis Vuitton is painted on the Damier canvas trunk (in which the watch would be encased), also designed by Paul. The Louis Vuitton Regatta is fitted with a beautiful dark blue leather strap with red stitching.
