Sweden unlike Switzerland is not known for its watchmaking. However there are boutique watchmakers that make exquisite timepieces their own way with a Nordic touch. One such manufacturer is GoS, co-founded by bladesmith Jonas Gustafs and watchmaker Patrik Sjögren. They specializes in making watches using traditional Scandinavian art of hand forging steel. Their latest creation is the limited edition Nordic Seasons Gold watch, made with two different materials – Swedish red gold and stainless Damascus steel.
The unique dial with intricate wild flower patterns is created using two different Swedish tool steels folded and forged into 192 layers. The 18 karat gold and Damascus steel case measures 44 mm. Dial features gold indices shaped and polished by hand. Its 18 karat gold hour and minutes hands are also handcrafted. The crown also made from finegrained Damascus steel boasts a fileworked edge and double gasket crown inset. The AR coated sapphire crystal covers front and caseback, providing an opportunity to view workings of the movement.
Powering the Nordic Season Gold Watch is Swiss made manual-wind ETA 6498 chronometer movement made by Soprod. It offers 18,000 vph, power reserve of 48 hours and water resistance up to 100 meters. Movement bridges made from a single piece of handforged Damascus steel feature woodgrain pattern. Giving the watch a finishing touch is its handcrafted soft nubuck leather strap fitted with GoS stainless steel buckle.
Limited to just 12 pieces each watch come engraved with its edition number. The Nordic Seasons Gold timepieces are delivered in birch wood boxes crafted using svepask technique, colored with natural linseed oil and covered with high grade natural wax. Each watch comes with a two year guarantee.
