Introducing Vintage Inspired Junghans Meister Agenda From German Watchmaker

Junghans Meister Agenda

This watch from German watchmaker Junghans reminds me of my late grandfather and his watch, I am sure it is going to be same for most of you too. The Junghans Meister Agenda is designed with watches from 1950s and 1960s on mind and their pricing also somewhat stayed in that era. In real life high-end watches have price points that starts around mid-thousands, surprisingly Junghans are very affordable with low-thousands pricing. For this elegant model pricing starts at $2,495 and four different variations of the model is offered including one with a rose gold-plated case for $2,746.

Junghans, based in Schramberg, Germany has been in the business of watchmaking since 1861. The Meister Agenda, first introduced in 1930s had seen improvements and refinements over the years. The 40 mm polished stainless steel case comes covered with a convex hard plexiglass with SIRCLAN coating for increased scratch resistance, improved UV and chemical resistance, and a more intense deep gloss of the plexiglass. Hidden inside this case is its self-winding movement J810.5 that handles host of functions – hour, minute, second with display for date, day, calendar week and power reserve. The sparsely decorated movement is fully visible from the casebook. It is also water resistant up to 3 meters.

The sunray brushed anthracite-grey dial feature two sub-dials in vintage off-white and perform functions not normally associated with them. The one at 12 o’clock displays the week number in a 52 week format, while the second at 6 o’clock works as the power reserve indicator. Two windows at 3 and 9 o’clock displays date and day respectively. Dial also feature stick hour and minute markers and stainless steel hands.

Completing the old fashioned yet striking Junghans Meister Agenda is its horse skin bracelet with a stainless steel buckle. The watches are not available yet, according to their North American American Official Distributor it will be available in August 2015.
