Apple Watch and Hermès collaboration are still going strong. In time for the holiday season they just released a brand new accessory the “Équateur Tatouage” Apple Watch strap, decorated using a jungle print from naturalist artist Robert Dallet. The fashion brand uses the “Équateur Tatouage” motif extensively across their collections, including on scarfs and home wears. Recently it showed up on their Fall 2016 ready-to-wear footwear collection. So, its appearance on the Apple Watch strap at some point was expected.
Printed on the back of the black leather strap is a jungle leaf design in black and white. A dash of color is added with an orange cheetah at one side of the band. This is not the first time Hermès used a similar motif on an Apple strap. Previously something similar was on the Single Tour band that that Hermès has offered for several months.
The partnership between Robert Dallet and Hermès goes a long, long way. Dallet’s artwork have adorned Hermès accessories for over 30 years. As the images show, both Apple and Hermès suggests that the strap looks better on their bespoke watch faces – Clipper, Cape Cod, and Espace.
As far as online availability goes, I came across this only on Hermès UK store priced £359 (about $450). Keep in mind navigating Hermès websites is not the best online shopping experience, because of flash use uploading is torturously slow. There is bad news for US customers, the strap is not available on US online store. Only a limited edition of Équateur Tatouage Apple Watch Strap is made and none will be sold in Apple’s brick and mortar stores.
