For the globe-trotting international man of mystery, Chopard has a new timepiece, the L.U.C GMT One. The dual-time read watch is powered by the new in-house handcrafted 291-part automatic L.U.C 01.10-L caliber with combined GMT function. A perfect world traveler’s accessory with a more modern look, it also helps celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of Chopard’s production facility in Fleurier. This incidentally is the first watch from L.U.C collection to receive a dual time built into the movement.
The L.U.C GMT One is released in two variations – 42mm stainless steel and in 18 karats rose gold. The fully loaded GMT features a second-time-zone that can tell time in any place, any time zone at all times. Additionally, it can self-adjust to local time while keeping tab of home time. The stainless steel version with a sunburst black dial with orange accents features daytime hours in white and night ours in orange in an outer ring. Even though we don’t have images of the rose gold version Chopard says it has a dual time ring in part-brown and part-white, sounds stylish.
There are two crowns on the watch. The first at 2 o’clock is to adjust the date (located at 6 o’clock) and local time. The second crown at 4 o’clock controls the baton-type hand with a white arrow pointing to the second time zone. Both version also has the seconds indicators. Other features include a 4 Hz frequency, 50-meter water resistance, and superluminova painted markers and numerals.
The new movement with a 60-hour power reserve comes with the prestigious COSC chronometer certification. Besides the Côtes de Genève decorated bridges, it also features chamfered components. All decorations are visible through the sapphire crystal case-back.
The alligator leather strap with alligator leather lining and an 18 karat rose gold buckle adds a lot more style to a watch made to go places. For a luxury watch, the stainless steel version is a steal at $9,500. Released yesterday, the stylish L.U.C GMT One is now available at Chopard’s online boutique.
