Are you ready to pay a million bucks to own this real tiny house in Waco, Texas? It has a name “Shotgun House” and became a star even before its $1 million price tag. Last year it appeared on HGTV channel’s reality show “Fixer Upper”. The show’s co-hosts Joanna and Chip Gaines found it on sale for just $28,000, but got it for free, and renovated it to make livable for someone else.
This miniature home is now a one-bedroom, one bed and one bath property with 1,050 square feet living space and a large outdoor area with seating and a fire pit. The origins were nowhere close to what it is today. Built in 1920, it was found abandoned in a vacant lot with a $28,000 price tag. Gaines wanted someone else to buy it and let them renovate it for their show.
And they found willing accomplices in Cameron and Jessie Bell, who were hose-hunting at the time. The couple wanted to renovate and remodel it where it is located, but a real estate developer got in the way after buying the entire block. Luckily, the Gaines worked out a deal with the developer and got the vintage structure for free, and helped Bells find a new lot near Baylor. It’s located in a great neighborhood – Magnolia Market (owned by Joanna and Chip), the Silos and many local restaurants and shops are within walking distance.
Shotgun House looks much bigger on the inside than from the outside. Some highlights include – a loft with a ship ladder, leaf pine wood floors a Dutch front door, a “Big Ass Fan”, 25′ vaulted ceilings, Bevolo gas light on the porch and a brick pad for outdoor seating in front of the branded sugar kettle fire-pit. The home comes fully equipped and furnished and feature among others a honed granite counter tops in the kitchen, turquoise Smeg refrigerator, double sinks and counter top in the bathroom.
If the almost one million dollar price tag is too much for you to handle, there is another option for the time being. Cameron and Jessie have listed the miniature Shotgun House on Airbnb at a much affordable $350 per night rate plus fees etc. The house is listed with Briggs Freeman.
