Two brands that know how to organize a celebration and how to celebrate one recently announced their agreement to celebrate together. Times Square New Year’s Eve co-organizers, Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment last week announced French Champagne maker Moët & Chandon as the official Champagne of Times Square 2014.
Celebrating New Year’s Eve at Times Square as its official Champagne is a first for Moët, though millions of Moët bottles have been popped open unofficially at the venue over the years. Times Square organizers expect a rousing New Year’s Eve celebration filled with style, glamor, and excitement with a little help from Moët bubbly.
Speaking on the occasion of announcement President of the Times Square Alliance Tim Tompkins said “An iconic celebration needs an iconic champagne like Moët & Chandon. We look forward to toasting the New Year with our new partner and celebrating all our successes and hopes for the year to come.”
As for their part, Moët & Chandon started off proceedings with a mini social media blitz that will continue throughout the month of December. Also doing rounds around New York City’s iconic landmarks such as Union Square and W Hotel is a giant 11-foot tall Moët & Chandon Imperial bottle, another first for the company in the US. Bottles ultimate stop is the Times Square on New Year’s Eve.
Consumers are invited to pose for photos with the giant bottle and create a toast for people in their lives. As for everyone else in the US, Moët invites all for a virtual toast thru their app on the Moët & Chandon USA Facebook page and thru Twitter using the hashtag #MyMoëtMoment. Moët plans to feature some of the toasts on 7 giant video screens during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
