Designed with new Nike Flyknit that put more emphasis on “Nature Amplified” design philosophy, Nike unveiled plans to release new KOBE9 Elite basketball shoes on 8 February 2014. The “Nature Amplified” design focuses more on the body in motion, athlete insights and scientific data. The very light weight shoe uses three key technologies Nike Flyknit, Flywire, and Lunarlon that boosts foot’s natural movements and provide strength, durability, and speed. According to Mark Parker, President & CEO of Nike, Nike Flyknit technology is just the beginning of the way athletes’ shoes are designed.
Flyknit technology was first used in 2012 in Nike Running shoes. This technology works by using just a single yarn to create the upper shoe. Nike swears by the shoe, boasting KOBE9 Elite used 50% less material in creating the upper than traditional high-top basketball shoes. Traditional basketball uses multiple pieces and cuts of material that leads to wastes.
KOBE9 Elite features also include nine red embroidered details on the heel, and a carbon fiber heel counter that provides strong and lightweight lateral stability when moving from side to side, while the heel remains stable.
Pricing is set at $225 per pair.
