Harrods has been selling luxury furniture from other high-end marques at their Knightsbridge store since the 1880s, for reasons unknown they never had a collection under their own brand. That little oversight is now corrected with the launch of Harrods of London Furniture Collection, the retailer’s first ever with their own designs. The Art Deco jewelry and tailoring inspired collection designed by their in-house interiors include stylish and unique upholstery, occasional pieces and case goods.
Highlighted pieces of the collection include the Simpson Coffee Table that can be a central piece in the living room, exquisitely designed Tiverton Sofa and Parkside Armchair and the Ellington Dining Table with its striking geometric lines has a classic, glamorous feel.
Annalise Fard, Director of Home at Harrods says, “We are thrilled to be launching Harrods of London’s first furniture collection this spring. Designing a furniture collection in-house was the next step after the relaunch of Harrods Home four years ago. Since then, we have introduced new brands in a range of styles across the furniture department, curated collections of lighting and accessories, and moulded Harrods into a design destination like no other. The elegant designs created by the Harrods Interiors team bring together contemporary understated finishes and the finest materials. A nod to Harrods heritage and the 1930s, brings an air of sophistication to the collection; I love how the clasps of each of the occasional pieces encase the marble table-tops, so evocative of the solitaire setting of a ring.”
As befitting a luxury range, only the best materials and design firms were used in the creation of Harrods of London Furniture Collection. The velvets and twills were sourced from the Savile Row’s best suppliers. Harrods teamed up with Italian design house Porada to create the Carraway Drinks Cabinet, and for upholstery work with family-owned furniture maker, Artistic Upholstery.
