KTM’s eagerly awaited beast is finally here. No more leaked photos and unconfirmed bits of info. A bike with a state-of-the-art racing technology to rev up and ride to wherever it takes you.
Here are the tech facts of this beautiful beast. KTM 1290 Super Duke R comes equipped with a 2-cylinder, 4 stroke 75-degree engine with 1.301 cc which in turn gives 108/71 mm bore/stroke to power up at an insane 180 hp @ 8,870 rpm. Moving on, beast carries a 6-speed gear transmission, 3 Eaton pumps for pressure lubrication, PASC hydraulic slipper clutch, Keihin EMS with DBW and double ignition. As revealed by KTM, the bike comes with a 144 Nm (more than 104 ft-lbs) of torque – this bike is not for the faint hearted!
Super Duke comes with a powder coated ChroMo-steel trellis frame with an aluminium handlebar. The front suspension is 48 mm WP USD and a WP rear monoshock. Front and rear brakes get Brembo monoblock calipers with Bosch 9ME C-ABS system for better braking. For perfect steering and even wear bike is fitted with die-cast wheels for stability and light, with tailor-made Dunlop Sportsmart tires for better grip in cold, hot or wet conditions. Tank capacity is 18-liter (4.75nus gal) with dry weight 189 kg (417 lbs.)
Extremely fuel efficient, the 1290 Super Duke R has a 9,300-mile service interval. Daytime running lights are standard. But importantly the beast can go from zero to 124 mph in 7.2 seconds!
