Here’s a really great big boy toy. Canadian LEV (Light Electric Vehicles) enterprise Daymak Inc just unveiled their latest prototype model, the world’s fastest electric go-kart Daymak C5-Blast, which can go from 0 to 60 mph in less than 1.5 seconds. According to Toronto-based Daymak, their little four wheeler goes faster than a Tesla P100D. Forget about for a minute it is faster than a Tesla, this is actually even faster than a supercar. And, this is all made possible by its power source – 100 percent clean energy – this is serious competition for Tesla.
All that power to fly in a flash comes from a liquid cool 10,000W motor and 8 EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) motors – these two sources combines to offer an output worth 96 KG to push things forward on the front. Additionally, there are 4 rear EDF motors with a combined 60 KG that helps with its record breaking speed. Prior to C5-Blast, Germany’s Hochschule Osnabrück Institut MuT was the record holder for the fastest go-kart. It took MuT go-kart 2.635 seconds to go from 0 to 60 – the innovative Daymak C5-Blast cut that time by more than a second. Another design feature responsible for its superfast speed is its net weight. At 200kg, the C5-Blast is extremely light weight, and the weight goes down to 100kg when all EDF motors are in use.
Jason Roy, Vice President of Daymak, Inc explains “We went through all this effort to break the record. So, we figured we well smash it! Now we have a working prototype and we are currently looking to apply this technology to a variety of projects. The potential are limitless.” Lead project manager Akili Sylvester added jokingly “We just have to find someone fearless to drive it.”
Once you eventually decide to buy a super fast Daymak C5-Blast, it will cost you a fortune. This is not only the world’s fastest, with a $60,000 price tag it also is the most expensive go-kart in the world.
