The Airbus EC145 special edition helicopter with Mercedes-Benz Style interior package was introduced in 2010. We cannot say sales took off since then because Airbus sold only 5 choppers worldwide since then. Not discouraged by low demand, Airbus this month brought the luxury chopper to the US for its first appearance, at Heli-Expo in California.
Airbus markets the EC145 as suitable transport for executives and families for business and leisure. Luxury interiors created in Como, Italy by Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio features premium leathers, elegant woods, ambient lighting, multi-function modular storage areas and an in-flight entertainment system. Other highlights include sliding cabin doors for easy entry and exit, and low noise and vibration controls for a quieter ride. There’s plenty storage space available for passenger’s belongings. The cabin can be easily modified to seat up to six passengers.
On the technical front, Airbus has packed the EC145 with advanced avionics, latest autopilot system, safety features and low fuel consumption to ensure a safe flight for passengers and crew. Pricing for the Airbus EC145 Mercedes-Benz starts at $8.5 million.
