Xbox Controllers come in different types. Over the years we have seen shiny gold-plated special editions like this one from ColorWare. Today we have another special edition to introduce to you and there is nothing shiny about this. A limited edition designed just for die-hard Gears of Wars fans. With the release of Xbox Elite Wireless Controller – Gears of War 4 Limited Edition, Microsoft is lending a hand to the popular franchise. Both the game and the controller will see their debut on October 11th.
Microsoft teamed up with the Gears of War development studio, The Coalition to design the feature rich console. The result is a controller with limitless swappable components to choose from. The special design has gone all war-mode and features a battle-weathered design and laser-etched claw marks. The controller itself is telling a story – its battle with the Swarm and how it survived to tell it.
The front features among other a large black Crimson Omen symbol. The D-Pad comes marked with familiar Gears default weapon icons: the grenades, the Snub Pistol, the Lancer, and the Gnasher. On the back, you are going to see the Phoenix Omen insignia on the battery door and custom-marked metallic red paddles.
That’s not all, a heavy gamer needs to carry his controller around. A matching carrying with a printed silhouette of the new Lancer from Gears of War 4, and matching red USB cable are all part of the limited edition Xbox Elite Wireless Controller. There are a couple of things exclusive to this limited edition: a unique multiplayer lobby emblem, and three Gear Packs for special in-game items which are redeemable in Gears of War 4.
The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller – Gears of War 4 Limited Edition is now available for pre-order online in US ($200) and in UK (£160). Microsoft plan to ship units in early October, just before the launch of Gears of War 4. The game will also be released in a host European countries, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Australia and New Zealand
