In the world of phone and tablet accessories, docks must be feeling neglected. They are not part of the conversations of blinged out or most expensive like their much celebrated cousins headphones and cases. To right this wrong a small industrial design company started by Thomas Wietecki, a former Lockheed Martin engineer has created a collection of high-end docks. Named the Infinity Dock, company is currently looking for additional funds at KickStarter to go into production and further improve the dock.
The docks are available in different materials as well as in finishes to give everyone a chance to own one. Most affordable is priced at $79. The most expensive at $999 is a dock machined from a block of steel and gold plated for a royal finish.
The door mechanism on the Infinity Dock has a unique way of working that allows for effortless removing of the cords. This is not a dock just for lightening devices, the versatile dock come with a custom cord to charge micro USB devices. It also come with micro suction pads attached to the bottom that secure the dock to smooth surfaces.
Each part is machined from a solid piece of 6061 aluminum and then anodized in a multitude of colors and textures. They are sourcing all the parts and materials locally, and hand assembling each unit. It takes over 5 hours to make each one.
They are over 30% of the way to their Kickstarter goal, with over three weeks left in their campaign.
