Like one wise guy said, “The Times They Are a Changin”. These days chefs are into designing clothes and vice-versa. Rappers are designing clothes too, but I haven’t heard about things happening in reverse order, yet. The latest from fashion world is designer Michael Kors is invading the tech sector. It was just a few weeks ago they introduced the Access Android Wear timepieces. Lately, instant cameras have become fashionable. So, the brand decided to team up with a Fujifilm and the result is Michael Kors x Fujifilm Instax Mini 70. A fashionable take on Fuji’s Instax Mini 70 series.
This is a win-win for selfie-happy fashionistas. The special edition Instax wrapped in gold tones features a 60mm lens, flash, and viewfinder. Fashion brand did not waste time putting its name on the unit – on the black back Michael Kors is branded in gold, and the front features the same in white. The camera costs $149 and comes with a 10 shot film pack. Costs get escalate a bit after that – Fuji’s 2-pack films are $15, this in itself assures the camera stays with the right sort of people who can afford the high-end brand.
Its operating power comes from a pair of Cr2 lithium batteries. If rechargeable batteries are a must, you’ll have to spend extra, and at the moment no big brand sell them. There is one more setback, a huge one. The MK x Fuji do not have any digital connectivity. No Wi-Fi, cellular or Bluetooth, that practically make this a selfie unhappy camera. Nothing gets posted to Instagram unless you take the long route, take a photo of the photo from your phone, and then share it all over the internet.
The Limited Edition Michael Kors x Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 will go on sale next month. It is offered only from October 20 until the end holiday season. Don’t head to Best Buy. According to Fuji, it will be available only at Michael Kors retail and online stores.
