Limited Edition Leica M-P Typ 240 ‘SAFARI’ – A Collectible For Camera Enthusiasts

Since its launch, Leica has introduced so many avatars of the popular M-P (Typ 240). They can’t blame us poor folks for thinking they may have designed it to use exclusively as a limited edition specialist. The latest addition to the range is Leica M-P Typ 240 ‘SAFARI’ set, which in a way pays homage to their first Safari camera edition, the Lecia M1 Olive from 1960. What has changed over the years is the increase in demand for Leica Safari cameras, they are sought after collectibles for vintage camera enthusiasts.

On the technical side, no changes made to the camera or lens and stays true to its serial version. From outside in addition to the olive green/safari lacquered top cover, it also features a leatherette and bottom plate. Going back to its 1960’s roots, it comes with the classic Leica logo inscribed on one line and the wording ‘WETZLAR GERMANY’ on the second line on the top. As you can see not everything come with a safari finish – shutter speed dial, the On/Off switch, the release button and the hot shoe have a silver finish. The entire 35mm/f2 ASPH lens set also has a silver chrome finish including its classic round metal lens hood.
