You may have heard about the Lamborghini Smartphones from the Tonino Lamborghini Group. Before we go any further talking about their new phone 88 Tauri, let’s get one thing clear. Tonino Lamborghini is a manufacturer of luxury items such as watches, accessories, and smartphones. Company name Lamborghini comes from its founder Tonino, whose late father Ferruccio Lamborghini founded the Lamborgini car company. Tonino Group, however, has no connections to the automaker, now part of the Volkswagen Group.
Now that the company history is taken care of let’s talk about their newest addition, the 88 Tauri. As with their other phones, 88 Tauri also runs on Android (most probably 4.4 KitKat, but no confirmation from the company.)
Bits and pieces of technical specifications released by Tonino show it has a 5-inch HD display and a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor. It also comes with 64 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM. Tonino is marketing the 88 Tauri as a selfie-taking phone, to back up that claim they offer an impressive 20MP rear camera and an 8MP front facing camera. Powering all this will be its 3400mAh battery.
The case of the 88 Tauri is made from steel with back covered in leather. The leather is available in color options black, blue, red, orange and brown. Steel finish is offered in colors black, gold and silver. With its hand embroidered stitches and geometric shapes, it sure has that high-end finish of a luxury phone.
The phone is priced to satisfy its prospective luxury buyers at $6,000 (possibly Lamborghini car devotees). The 88 Tauri is a limited edition of just 1,947 – the number chosen was the year Tonino was born. Each phone comes with its edition number etched on the back. This will not be available however as a stocking filler for Christmas, as announced by Tonino release date is just before the New Year.
