Not wanting only Apple and Samsung having fun with gold phones, HTC has joined the gold bandwagon with one of their own. HTC is giving 18 karat gold treatment for HTC One. This special edition gold phone is to celebrate the 18th anniversary of MOBO Awards, a British awards ceremony that honors black artists and urban music in the UK. The phone features the MOBO 18 logo laser etched on the back. MOBO noted “this is the most expensive and exclusive HTC phone ever made,” and we don’t dispute that. Please keep in mind, this is not the same leaked gold HTC One from a few weeks earlier.
Partnering HTC on this project is Gold Genie, the well-known British gold customizers that count Beckhams as customers. Priced at £2,750 (approx. $4,400), special edition One is limited to only five copies, with one going to the Best Newcomer award winner at MOBO Awards. So, you might want to hurry up to grab yours, though details of how to purchase one is not available. Alternatively, as a consolation you can buy one of 24 karat gold plated One’s from Gold Genie directly for about $3,000.
