As you all know, Mexico has to pay for a wall they don’t want. This means the country has to make enough money to pay for it – about $30 billion. One luxury hotel found a way to make some of it. The Grand Velas Los Cabos, located along Mexico’s Baja Peninsula is now offering the world’s most expensive taco – priced at $25,000 for two. If they sell 1,000,000,000 tacos at this price, they can make Mexico Wall payments on time for Donald Trump.
A pricey taco deserves the best seat in the house, the hotel says it will be served at their fine-dining eatery, Frida. Named for artist Frida Kahlo, the establishment serves gourmet Mexican cuisine. What’s in the extravagant gold flake-infused soft corn taco? It comes packed with Kobe beef, lobster, black truffle, brie cheese and Almas Beluga caviar. There’s no way Taco Bell keep Beluga in stock, as it costs about $34,500 per kilo – eggs produced from Iranian albino sturgeon between 60 to 100 years old.
What’s the use of a taco without salsa? The salsa in this taco is made with dried Morita peppers, Ley .925 Añejo tequila, and kopi luwak. As most of you coffee aficionados know, Indonesia’s kopi luwak is the world’s most expensive coffee.
The brain behind the most expensive taco is Juan Licerio Alcala, Frida’s executive chef. “Our ultimate goal at Grand Velas Los Cabos is to break the mold of expected, traditional cuisine and go outside of the box for our well-traveled guests. The taco is just the first of such exciting experiences that we plan to roll out in the coming months,” says Alcala.
To wash down a couple of $25,000 tacos, you need something equally impressive. If you can find an additional $150,000 lying around your place Chef Alcala has just the right drink – a bottle of .925 Pasión Azteca Ultra Premium Añejo tequila. No worries if can’t find the money, they also carry plenty of plain old Coca-Cola. Call or email Frida to get more information and make a reservation for the extravaganza. Frida is open every evening from 6 pm to 11 pm.
