No one celebrated the 35th America’s Cup coming to Bermuda more than the island nation’s most iconic brand, Goslings Rum. This 211-year old company knows all the hidden treasures in and around the islands and the seas, a lot better than any Caribbean pirate. A couple of those treasures include their own Black Sea Rum – a favorite of the sailors worldwide and the trademark for Dark “N” Stormy cocktail recipe. To celebrate special tall boats visiting the island, they have unveiled The World’s Most Elaborate Rum Package, a serial numbered limited edition.
A special edition means a special edition, Goslings went back to their crown jewels for the occasion – each bottle comes filled with 750 ml of rum from their oldest barrel from 1968. The bottle is then placed in a handmade, leather-lined wooden chest made in England by Moran’s Wood Components. In a separate drawer in the chest, there is a leather book describing the rum making process and a small journal to write down dates and notes of your Black Sea Rum drinking spree.
There is something, even more, eye-catching, a crystal decanter to empty the bottle. The decanter, crafted in England by Dartington Crystal is a small replica of the America’s Cup winner’s trophy – “Auld Mug” – the oldest sports trophy in the world and it comes with a matching solid glass stopper. Giving the decanter a final finish is a beautiful decorative sterling silver handle from renowned silversmiths T.R. Sterling, which is individually fashioned to fit each decanter.
Goslings The World’s Most Elaborate Rum Package is limited to just 166 pieces, one for each year the America’s Cup been in existence – the race was held intermittently sometimes, however for the past 20-30 years they managed to hold it every four years. Priced at $10,000 apiece, this collector’s item is sold only in Bermuda. Contact Tracy Westhaver at firstname.lastname@example.org for purchase information.
