If you haven’t escaped the blizzard on time and still stuck in Boston or East Coast this tailgate party is not for you. Two of America’s most celebrated chefs Charlie Palmer and Michael Mina have got together to throw the best tailgate party, ever. On Thursday the January 29, the duo will host the first Super Bowl Culinary Kickoff at Mina’s Bourbon Steak restaurant at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess resort in Arizona.
The Bourbon Steak is just a short 40-miniute drive from the University of Phoenix Stadium where the Super Bowl final is scheduled to take place. The party cost $2,000 per person and open to 150 guests, as of this writing only 31 more seats left. This is not any old tailgate, it starts with a one-hour cocktail reception, followed by a three-course dinner prepared by Palmer and Mina and desserts to end the evening.
On the menu are a lineup of canapés, including black-truffle chestnuts, prosciutto-wrapped prawns, and Choripán sandwiches with smoked sausage and chimichurri. Next served are salad of lobster, clementine, nasturtium with fresh mozzarella, and pasta with guanciale and smoked egg yolk. Three-course menu starts with a dish of wild and organic mushrooms then continue to oak-creek cress, Parmigiano-Reggiano, miso broth, spice-crusted duck breast, and end with Miyazaki wagyu strip loin and Szechuan lobster with garlic jus and croquettes of charred scallion and violet mustard.
Wines served with canapés come from the brands own by sports personalities includes Vermeil Wines, Red Stitch by Rich Aurilia, Doubleback by Drew Bledsoe, Kistler Chardonnay and Kosta Browne Pinot Noi. Realm Cabernet Sauvignon is served with main course.
If you prefer more than the party, Culinary Kickoff also offer a charter package at $17,500 per person that includes a round-trip private jet within the US, four nights stay at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, a ticket to the Super Bowl final and entry to four Super Bowl parties throughout the weekend. Parts of proceeds will be donated to The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), a private non-profit collage that offer courses and degrees in culinary arts & science, baking and pastry arts, applied food studies and beverage studies.
