When visiting Manchester in England, fine dining is not something you can find on the list of “things to do in Manchester”. A trip to Manchester United and Manchester City football clubs always top the list along with the Lancashire Cricket Club. That doesn’t mean the Merseyside city lacks any fancy restaurants. If you are planning a trip to Manchester, make sure to stop by at Michael Caines at the ABode Manchester occupying a nineteenth century cast-iron building exposed beams and polished parquet floors. ABode hotels and Michael Caines restaurants are a group of businesses owned by Michelin-starred Chef Michael Caines and Andrew Brownsword.
Located in the basement of the ABode, the Michael Caines also has a well-stocked bar named, Champagne Bar. Their excellent selection of wines come from traditional vineyards in Europe as well as from the US, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and South America. Each and every wine on the menu is chosen to complement their dishes. They also offer a creative cocktail menu and their sommelier is more than happy to help you select a drink.
Their à la carte dinner sample menu comprises of wonderful mouthwatering list of items. One of the dishes is Roast Isle of Mull Scallops served with caramelized cauliflower purée, raisins, truffle vinaigrette, cumin velouté. For someone with a bit more liking for all things meat, the Cheshire Beef Sirloin served with Ox cheek, shallots and a rich deep red wine sauce will be an excellent choice. It was told the red wine sauce of this dish is full of flavor and the dish itself is not for the faint hearted. For vegetarian fine diners, there is the Roasted Cauliflower with watercress, pomme purée and pickled shallots.
When it is time for desserts and keep your sweet tooth happy, they offer yet another appetizing menu. Their Caramel and Cardamom Parfait comes with milk chocolate mousse, nougatine and cardamom foam, while the Confit Orange and Grand Marnier Soufflé is served with confit orange sorbet.
