Last couple of days we had quite a few Japan-centric stories. Let’s add one more to the pile. The ice cream company with a fancy European sounding name, but with origins in Brooklyn and the Bronx is ready to serve their mature customers with a special treat. Häagen-Dazs Japan announced a two-day pop-up ice cream cocktail cafe in Tokyo’s trendy Jingumae neighborhood near the Harajuku Station. Named the Häagen-Dazs & Lounge, the two-day event will be held on March 24 and 25.
It seems they are serving up a quite fashionable menu in posh surroundings. Ice cream in cocktail glasses garnished with chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate sticks and letters of the alphabet takes on a black and white theme. The dual-tone color scheme is a nod to Häagen-Dazs Crunchy Crunch Double Cookies & Cream ice cream bar, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
This may be the only ice cream parlor you have to get dressed-up in that little black dress (probably not) to get served. Once there, you can pick your choice of frozen treats – a scoop of either double or regular cookies and cream ice cream. Then head straight to the buffet-style bar counter to get your favorite toppings that include dried blueberries, black sesame macarons, bamboo charcoal rusk biscuits, white strawberries, meringue, marshmallows, and coconut chips.
Keep next Friday and Saturday afternoon free to enjoy Häagen-Dazs & Lounge special treats, that is if you are in the neighborhood.
