EL James, the author of the erotic novel trilogy “Fifty Shades of Grey” has teamed up with California winemakers to bring Red Satin and White Silk wines to her devoted fan base. Wine plays is a central part in the Fifty Shades of Grey storyline, so there’s no surprise James trying to cash in on the idea. Talking about her wines James said, “I’ve always had a penchant for good wine, so combining two of my passions to blend Red Satin and White Silk was a natural extension of the Fifty Shades trilogy.” She added, “I hope all of you curl up with a glass as you enjoy the romance between Anastasia and Christian.”
On Red Satin, the website describes the wine as a “decadent” blend of Petite Sirah and Syrah with flavors of black cherry, cocoa powder, creamy caramel and vanilla, leather and clove spice, and aged in new and neutral French oak barrels.
White silk wine is described as a blend of “”delicately playful” blend of Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc, with flavors of lychee and honey, crisp grapefruit, mineral and lush pear with a faint hint of butterscotch, and aged in stainless steel tanks under 50 degrees F.
As a fan, you are just not the only person in love with the idea of Fifty Shades wines. People magazine liked the idea so much, they added the story to their “Great Ideas” category. Marketed with the romantic tagline “You Are Mine,” wines are available now at the Fifty Shades Wine website and at retail stores starting next month for $17.99 a bottle.
