Japan is the hub when it comes to brands experimenting and collaborating! The latest partnership, Puma x Hello Kitty has given Japan yet another limited edition collection of sports apparel. Hello Kitty is one of Japan’s most popular characters and Puma is paying a red-and-white themed homage to the icon with its most recent line up of sportswear and sneakers.
It also happens to be the 50th anniversary of Puma Suede which first appeared on the market back in 1968. To mark this special occasion the brand introduced the showstopper piece of the Puma x Hello Kitty collection – white and red kicks with the Puma panther at the heel and Hello Kitty all over. The colorful graphic is tied up perfectly with red laces and red suede on the tongue, heel, and sides of the shoe. Hello Kitty also appears on the tongue, poking out from the laces alongside the Puma logo.
Hello Kitty is also on her way to turning 50, she recently celebrated her 40th birthday in 2014 and the magnitude of her presence in pop culture, especially in Japan, made her the perfect fit for this collaboration. In the exclusive collection, Hello Kitty appears with her trademark bow and milk bottle, an image that takes us all back to childhood and the character’s journey in London, where she made cookies and loved her mother’s homemade apple pie.
The Puma x Hello Kitty Suede Classics have a price tag of 1,2960 Yen ($122). The collection also features limited edition apparel – the popular Sanrio character can be found on a number of other items in the Puma range, including a red-and-white tracksuit. The hoodie is priced at 8,640Yen ($82) while the matching pants are being sold at 8,100 Yen ($76). To keep it casual and complete the apparel set there is also a t-shirt that has all the elements of the collaboration going for 4,320 Yen ($42).
The accessories of the collection feature a gym-sack for 3,240 Yen ($32) and a backpack for 8,100 Yen ($76) – both showcasing the character on see-through designs. The full collection and stock up on items can be viewed exclusively on the Puma Japan website. The Puma x Hello Kitty Collection is available for a limited time starting 8 February 2018. Thank you, Japan for being the creative playground for brands to partner on everything from fashion to food!
