Welcome back, John Galliano! He is back, with a definite bang. After being sidelined by every fashion house for comments made in 2011 in a Paris Bar (he was with Dior at the time), Galliano finally found a new home at Maison Margiela last year as their creative director. Earlier today in London he unveiled the Maison Margiela ‘Artisanal’ Spring Collection. As expected show did have the flamboyance Galliano is known for with black and bright red taking center stage along with the out of the ordinary designs.
Images released from the fashion house show models in platform shoes, lace dresses, velvet dresses denim shorts and in simple pantsuits. There are two red dresses with huge 3D faces attached right in the middle of them, pieces that remind everyone Galliano did not lose his bold design style during his four-year exile. More like he toned his extravagant styles couple of notches down, for the time being.
US Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour; a friend who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring Galliano back to the fashion world was in attendance. Supermodel Kate Moss, Burberry’s Christopher Bailey, and Manolo Blahnik also showed up to support the Gibraltar-born British designer.
