Salavatore Ferragamo’s latest addition to their bag collection is the Fiamma bag. Launched this week at a dinner at Casa Lever in Manhattan, the Fiamma collection gets its name from Fiamma Ferragamo, late daughter of founder Salvatore. A designer in her own right, Fiamma’s creative contributions to the fashion house include the iconic Vara shoe and the first handbag collection for Ferragamo.
The Fiamma collection consists of five variants – in sizes mini, medium and large, and in two additional styles of tote and flap. Different materials used include exotic python, crocodile and stingray skins to leathers of calf and fox fur, while another is studded with Swarovski crystals. Fiamma is offered in multitude of colors such as Cocoa, Black, Moss, Rosewood, Plum and Atlantic. Bags feature double zip and flap pocket with an ornamental lock, gold hardware, double short round handles and a removable adjustable shoulder strap. Inside is satin lined and has a zip pocket.
“The Fiamma bag represents the legacy of my family and the incredible talent shared by my grandfather and his children. My aunt Fiamma was integral to milestones in our brand history, designing the iconic Vara shoe and the first handbag collection for Ferragamo, and realizing my grandfather’s dream to wardrobe women head-to-toe,” said James Ferragamo, grandson of the founder and Director of Women’s Leather Goods at the company.
Prior to unveiling the Fiamma collection, a series of short films featuring some of fashion house’s well-known patrons including Roman princesses, Brazilian, Japanese and US heiresses were shown. Film series showcase how iconic Ferragamo style is passed on throughout generations.
