Distressed Superstar Sneakers – there is a lot of buzz and an equal amount of outrage over the collection. A fashion conscious mind, however, cannot worry about trivial things like moral outrage. Luxury footwear brand Golden Goose found a way to take ultra-casual to the next preppy level by designing pre-dirtied, pre-ripped, pre-ducked taped (in marketing jargon “pre-distressed”) sneakers.
I doubt even the current king of casual wear Mark Zuckerberg going to shell out hard earned $600 bucks for a pair. Never mind that thought. The sneakers are in such demand, the duct taped pink pairs with tattered laces and scuffed suede are already sold out.
As mentioned above it’s not all smooth sailing for the collection. There was a lot of outrage and ridicule in social media over the price tag. Some have offered to sell their worn out Chuck Taylors for much less. The Venetian brand is unconcerned because they’ve been making distressed kicks for a while. Befitting its luxury tag, all their shoes are made in Italy and mostly handcrafted.
In the US you can also buy an exclusive collection of Distressed Superstar Sneakers from Barneys. The high-end retailer also offers free shipping within the US.
