“The Gabardine Collection”, Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2015 eyewear offering is now in full bloom with an advertising campaign featuring models Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn. Campaign shot by Mario Testino in London has two models dressed in Burberry trench coats and accessorized in Gabardine eyewear. As the name suggests, the inspiration for Gabardine collection comes from fashion house’s lightweight gabardine cotton fabric used mainly for trench coats and raincoats since 1879.
The collection includes sunglasses and optical frames for women. Made of polished metals and acetate frames, Gabardine’s twill structure and soft drape features are incorporated into the design. Eyewear is available in a color palette that includes signature gradient honey, gradient nude, natural horn effect, oxblood and classic black and tortoise. The Gabardine collection will be offered in styles square, cat-eye, round or butterfly shapes.
The collection also boasts an oversized round frame with an 18 karat gold-plated draped gabardine temple, a special edition of just 100 units. Pricing for the collection starts at $225, available online and at stores.
