Beyoncé Knowles knows one needs to strike while the iron is hot. On the heels of the surprise release of her successful fifth studio album – on iTunes, her team announced the upcoming release of her third perfume “RISE” in February. Collaborators for the new perfume includes perfumer Loc Dong at IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) and Ken Hirst the designer of the gold bottle.
The new perfume is reportedly inspired by her favorite Maya Angelou poem – most likely “Still I Rise.” Through her perfume, Beyoncé hopes to empower women. Marsha Brooks, vice president of global marketing for Cody told WWD “The fragrance concept is about female empowerment and finding the inner strength that makes women so beautiful.” Cody holds the licenses for Beyoncé’s fragrances. Beyoncé in a press release added, “The spirit of RISE encourages women to be all that we are.”
As for the fragrance itself, its top note is gold symphony orchid, complimented by middle notes golden apricot, jasmine, freesia, Italian bergamot, and sweet smelling many be “iced basil sorbet.” With masculine base notes autumn woods, cashmere, musk, and vetiver extract completing it. At least in Beyoncé’s world, this is how feminism and empowerment smell like.
